Basic Rules of Poker

A poker games requires a bit of skill and psychology, but it is necessary to understand the basic rules of the game before you start playing.

Poker is a card game with a game played with a standard of 52 cards. The cards are being ranked from the biggest to the lowest value. Cards are ranked from Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and Ace. Ace can be either the highest or the lowest. Cards also come in different suits. Suits can be Spades, Hearts, Diamonds or Clubs. But no suit is higher than other suit, all suit are ranked the same.

A poker hand consists of 5 cards which is also known as a hand. The highest hand in the game will win. There are a total of 10 ranks of hand. Arranged from the highest to the lowest are Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind, Two Pair, One Pair and High Card.

In a game of Poker, players need to contribute to a pot with chips. The chips are represented by real money. Players then are dealt with 2 cards face down on the table. Players are dealt and additional card in every round, in each round players can bet, match, raise or fold. There a total of 3 rounds. At the end of the last round, the hand with the biggest value will win.
